It’s time to celebrate YOU moms! You give to everyone else so much, it’s now time to start giving back to yourself. You want to be healthy but how do you manage that when you have so many other emergencies to deal with?
I’m thankful that I can look at my wife’s example (the healthiest mom I know) and see how a healthy mom should live. I thought I should share a few things that happen in our house. Maybe one or two of these tips can help you live a healthier life. Then you can spread that message of health to your family and make a difference in the lives of the ones you love the most.
Here are the 4 habits for healthy moms.
A Healthy Mom:
- Eats Intentionally: I know this can be heard to do. When every moment is spent helping the kids get ready for school, do homework, handle the affairs of work and home, finding time to eat and eat well is always a challenge. But if you can take a couple of intentional steps in your eating, your body will thank you for it.
- plan your week in advance
- set aside an afternoon do rung the week for most of the cooking
- store your food in the freezer
- eat the pre-made meals over the course of the week.
This may seem all-too-simple but it saved us many weeks. When you don’t have time to daily prepare really healthy foods, this is a way to make sure you take less trips to eat out and eat less healthy. You can also get your kids involved in the process. When they are involved with the preparation, they will be much more happy to eat it!
Move hard and fast
You know that you need to exercise. But with chasing the children, or shuttling them around the city for projects and events, you don’t feel you have time for fitness. Especially walking for hours on a boring treadmill. Maybe you even try to tell yourself those 30 minutes of housework was exercise. Most of the time, the physical things you do around the house are enough to break your body down. Intentional time for exercise will allow you to strengthen your body, allowing you to tolerate the physical things you do all day, every day. High intensity interval training (HIIT)has been shown to have the greatest effect on your health in the least amount of time. Try our 21 Day Fitness Fast Track Program, a program that I developed incorporating HIIT training and make fitness a priority.

Does her “Math”:
Your life can be very stressful, but there are strategies that will help you to relieve the stress you’re under and also help your body to be more resistant to stress. One way to look at managing your stress is to understand this equation: HAPPINESS=REALITY/EXPECTATION
- Your expectations should be in line with the reality of the situation you’re going through. For example, when I was a kid, I thought that Ferraris were the only car worth driving. The reality is, I’ll likely never own a Ferrari. A belief in vehicles that’s not grounded in reality will lead to disappointment.
- how about children? What if I believed that children are supposed to be perfect, well behaved, responsible, people that were mature and did the right thing all the time. But the reality is that children are going to do the opposite much of the time. I would be incredibly disappointed in my kids and my happiness in that area of live would be very low.
- Remember HAPPINESS = REALITY/EXPECTATION and help keep stress from overcoming you.
- Your expectations should be in line with the reality of the situation you’re going through. For example, when I was a kid, I thought that Ferraris were the only car worth driving. The reality is, I’ll likely never own a Ferrari. A belief in vehicles that’s not grounded in reality will lead to disappointment.
- She shares it with the family: A mom who makes healthy choices has a healthier family. Why? Because it’s almost impossible to keep this to yourself. As you make changes to your diet and fitness, and stress, it will transfer to your family. Your spouse and kids will start making better choices. Your health will improve the health of your family. Then your children will have an impact on the health and lives of their families in the future. If this healthy movement builds, you will make a difference in our world.
- Bonus Habit – She takes care of the source: What controls every function in your body? Yes, it’s your brain, and the brain sends messages down the spinal cord out to all the nerves to every part of your body. If your nervous system is functioning well, then your body should be really healthy. You can process the changes you created with your exercise. Your digestive system will function better as you’re eating better foods. You’ll be more likely to deal with negative stresses in your life if your nervous system is functioning well. But the various physical, chemical, and emotional stresses in your life will affect your nervous system’s function. This is because these stresses cause subtle misalignments in your spine called subluxations. Those subluxations will place pressure on the spinal nerve roots causing you to experience poor health. Here’s how. If you placed s little pressure on one of the nerve roots in your neck, you could have neck pain, but you also could have pain, tingling or numbness down the arms. If you want to improve your long term health and well being, you want to make sure your nervous system is working optimally. Your Tucson Chiropractor is the one person that can help you with that.
