You may wonder why sometimes when you get adjusted and then not too long after, you start to feel your pain or discomfort again. It may even make you think that it didn’t work or heal the way I expected it to heal as I got adjusted. Or you may want to know what you can do to help make your adjustments hold better. Today I am going to talk about a couple of those things.
Number 1- Whenever you go in to see a chiropractor and get adjusted you want to be under some kind of corrective protocol that is actually going to change your spine. When you get adjusted, your spine moves about a millimeter, which is nice, but it is not actually completely corrected. We want to make sure you are getting enough adjustments to make some corrective changes.
Number 2 – When you get adjusted there are very specific structure corrective exercises that can help strengthen and stabilize the spine. Training those stabilizing muscles will ensure that you’ll see some permanent correction.
Number 3 –The next thing you have to think about is your diet. What am I eating? Sugar is highly, highly inflammatory. If we have a diet that is full of sugar, I can adjust you all day and that inflammation is still going to increase even as we take pressure off of the spine and off those nerves that travel off of the spine – so you want to definitely address your diet.
If you have any questions about what a good diet actually looks like you can certainly schedule a nutritional consultation. We can sit down and go into great detail about our anti-inflammatory program which involves changing your diet. When you get rid of things that cause inflammation and add certain supplements that naturally reduce your inflammation you will begin to notice that the adjustments will hold longer.
So the three steps again are to make sure that you are on an active corrective protocol of adjustments, that you are exercising in a way that is going to support the spine and support your adjustments and lastly to eat in a way that is going to reduce inflammation and the result is you will see your adjustments hold longer.
