Feeling Stuffy?
Try chiropractic for your allergies.
Back in my college days, I dreaded August and March. The corn fields were being harvested, the ragweed was in bloom, and I knew that for the next two months, I would have difficulty breathing. I would take any over-the-counter medication I could find and just pray I could make it through the day.
Then I started seeing a chiropractor. While I didn’t think there was anything wrong with me, I had learned that my spine and nervous system could affect my health, so I decided to get regular chiropractic wellness care. When the next allergy season rolled around, I didn’t have allergies anymore.
The spinal nerves that radiate from the third vertebrae (C3) in the middle of the neck travel to the sinuses. Pressure on those nerves due to spinal misalignment can impair the function of the sinuses and cause allergic symptoms. Gentle chiropractic adjustment of the C3 vertebrae can alleviate this pressure, and can relieve allergy symptoms. I’ve not had a year of debilitating allergy symptoms since my first corrective chiropractic program of care. Four years later, I walked the graduation line as a chiropractor myself.
If you suffer with allergies, Here are a couple of things to remember. First, remember to drink lots of water. Water flushes the body of toxins, and staying fully hydrated can go a long way to relieving your allergy symptoms. Also, get adjusted by your family chiropractor. Chiropractic is not a cure for allergies, but improving your nervous system’s function can make a big impact on your symptoms. And while it probably won’t help you much at this point, it’s interesting to note that breastfed babies seem to have fewer problems with allergies than other babies.
So don’t fret when you see those spring flowers start to bloom. Get adjusted!
