An eight year old boy was in a store looking at winter coats. He was excited to be able to get a winter coat that year because his family couldn’t afford winter coats, but there was a program that allowed him to be able to get a free winter coat, and this boy was excited.
He looked around at the winter coats and he found the one this red reversible ski jacket. He had his mindset that was the jacket that he was going to have. He loved that coat. But mom had a different idea. She had a different coat. It was black, it was furry, it was going to keep him warm. It was definitely more practical than the coat that little boy picked out.
But he was determined. He was really determined. He was visibly upset. He really wanted that red reversible ski jacket almost to the point that this kid was looking like he was going to throw a tantrum. Over a coat that he was gonna get for free. And if you look at it from the outside, you probably would think, boy, shouldn’t this child be thankful for the free winter coat that he was getting.
But I’ll tell you, 35 years later, I still remember and still appreciate that red reversible ski jacket. Now, I don’t remember the people that came through and made a difference for us that day, but I remember that someone did. I remember that our family didn’t have enough.
And someone stepped in and helped and it made a difference. So that today, I am thankful to be a part of being able to help make a difference for others. And I’m asking you to join us today. We’re collecting toys and gifts and things for kids for Christmas here in Morena. We’re working with the Picture Rocks Elementary School and a couple of other schools in this area to be able to help kids have a special Christmas.
So if you’d like to be a part of that, then when you come into the office, we’ll give you information on a kid that you can help. And I thank you so much for being a part of that. We would love it if we can provide each kid that we’ve taken, on this year to be able to get them some kind of clothing item, some kind of toy or gift item.
And anything that you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. So thank you for partnering with us. Thank you for making a difference in the life of a kid. And even though it may seem like just a small thing, like just a, toy or just a gift, these things, kids don’t forget. I sure didn’t.
