Have you ever tried something, for one very specific reason, hoping for a great result. Later, you find out that even though it was good for one thing, it was really bad for another? Here’s an excerpt from an article about diet sodas. People drink them daily as a way to have something tasty to drink, without the calories of sugary sodas. However recent research shows more weight gain in people who drink diet sodas. But more disturbing research is showing that those sweet, calorie-free beverages are actually hurting our brains.
Aspartame And The Link With Depression and Migraines
If you do develop migraines after drinking or eating aspartame-sweetened foods, you’re definitely not alone. Dr. Mary D. Eades, in her book, The Doctor’s Complete Guide to Vitamins and Minerals, reports that aspartame is the trigger for migraines in roughly 10 percent of all migraine patients. If that percentage sounds high to you, then you’ll be floored by the results of a University of Florida study. According to Jean Carper’s Food: Your Miracle Medicine, aspartame increased migraine frequency in more than 50 percent of the migraine patients who participated in the study. Additionally, Carper writes, “[The test subjects’] headaches lasted longer and some subjects experienced an increase in ‘unusual symptoms’ during aspartame-inspired headaches, such as dizziness, shakiness and diminished vision.”
So, what do we do about this?
1: ditch the diet sodas. They are ineffective at helping us lose weight. They are hurting our brains in the process
2: Replace: find a better alternative. Water is always the best choice. Noting beats it for hydration and there are no calories. You’ll receive the best of both worlds. Proper hydration also prevents headaches. So you’re killing a few birds with this one stone.
3: After reading this and you’re thinking, I can’t give up my diet sodas, it’s just too hard!! A cleanse may be right for you. In our Tucson Chiropractic office, we have been helping families in Tucson and Marana drop the soda habit with a 10 day detoxification. It’s pretty simple, change your diet, take a simple supplement to clear your body of cellular toxins, and watch your health change. If you can simply do numbers 1 and 2, don’t bother with number 3, but if you need that extra push, click here and find out more about how to cleanse your body of those damaging things.
