Hi, I’m Dr. Emil Tompkins, and today we’re going to talk about laser therapy at Tompkins Family Chiropractic. Now, this was birthed out of the desire. To take even better care of our patients. Over the last 18 years, we’ve been making corrections in the spine to relieve pressure on the nervous system, allowing the body would work better and feel better.
However, one of the things that we wanted to try to accomplish was to try to decrease the healing time once those problems were corrected, and we believe we’ve found an effective solution to that. We’re now introducing low-level laser therapy, a safe, non-invasive form of light therapy that’s been shown to be able to reduce pain, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue healing.
This can happen anywhere in your body, and here’s how it works. The laser sends pulses of light at very specific wavelengths. It activates cells in the body to make certain changes. Damaged cells will rebuild. Healthy cells will have increased mitochondrial production, and if you don’t remember your middle school science classes, that is the energy producer in the cells.
More energy in the cells, more function, more healing, more health. The RCIA 635 nanometer laser we use has been FDA approved for chronic neck, back, knee, and foot pain. So many of the typical conditions we see in our office can respond really well to laser therapy, but some of the most exciting research has actually been.
On the brain, and especially in kids with autism, especially in people who are dealing with memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer’s. There’s a quadruple blind study submitted to the FDA that showed kids with autism were subjected to two different kinds of treatments. One was the Arcon low level laser, like what we use.
And another group had simply a a red laser, like an L E D light, two times a week for four weeks. So eight treatments. The laser group of kids saw changes in behavior with what was measured significant decrease in aberrant behaviors as assessed by this ABC questionnaire. They compared the kids that had the laser compared to the kids that.
We’ll call it the fake laser. So the light pulse over a very short period of time. Each visit was about eight minutes, and there were eight visits two times a week for four weeks. These eight visits changed these kids’ brains. Imagine how life-changing that could be, a treatment that you can’t even really feel that can affect so many aspects of your body’s health.
I am so excited for what the future holds for our patients. So real quickly, to recap laser therapy at Tomkins Family Chiropractic will provide pain relief, reduced inflammation and tissue regeneration in any part of the body.
